Battery maintenance for electric forklifts

Battery maintenance procedure for electric forklifts

Almost all electric forklifts of different brands use battery packs with voltage: 24, 36, 48VDC, and the capacity depends on the capacity of the vehicle, the Aqui container, how many batteries can be used. battery to the connector (basic rule of battery connection: series connection => increase voltage, parallel connection => increase current).

Aqui used for forklifts can be diluted battery, dry battery, so the use and storage are also slightly different. The use time of the battery depends on the number of times of charging, as well as the care regime such as not letting the solution be too exhausted, the charging current is too large, working temperature, storage … Here are the basic rules to pull. Long battery life

Batteries that are attached to a vehicle need to be properly maintained for a long time to be used. It is necessary to periodically check about once every 2 months, including the following tasks: checking the level of solution in the compartments and replenishing, checking the cleanliness of the battery piles, recharging the battery with a charger…

Do not let the solution level in the flasks drop below the LOWER line, only distilled water can be used for replenishment. Before removing the covers, clean the outside of the battery to avoid getting dirt into the compartments of the battery.

Recharge the battery when it is found that the battery is low (for example, can not start the machine…) or after adding distilled water to the tank. The charging current is 1/10 of the tank capacity (see item c part 3 above), however the refill time depends on the actual measured solution density (using commercially available hydrometer tubes) . Need to remove the battery from the car when recharging, remove the negative (-) wire first, the positive (+) after.

The time required to recharge a battery is based on the actual measured density of that battery and is applied according to the following calculation:

Factor 1.2 ~ 1.5 added to ensure the battery is fully charged compared to the specified time.

For example, a 12V-5Ah battery has an actual density of 1.20, so: Discharge discharge is: 5Ah.(1.280-1.200): 0.2 = 1.5A

Time  required reload is: 1.5×1.2: 0.5 =  3.6 (hours)

Note: Do not cover the covers of the battery compartments (chambers) while charging.

When installing the battery on the car, install the positive wire first, negative after. Apply a little grease to the pitchers for protection.

For electric forklifts, the battery is the main source of energy, so if you want your electric forklift to work well, always in a ready-to-service position, we must regularly check and maintain it even when it is not. the forklift has not been in operation for a long time

  • diesel-forklift Analysis of investment efficiency between electric forklifts and diesel forkls

Analysis of investment efficiency between electric forklifts and diesel forkls In today’s modern industrial and logistics world, choosing the right lifting equipment plays a crucial role in optimizing performance and operating costs. The two most popular types of forkls on the market today are electric forklifts and diesel forklifts. Each type has its own advantages and limitations, requiring businesses to carefully consider before making investment decisions. This article will analyze in detail the investment efficiency between electric forklifts and diesel forklifts, helping you have a comprehensive view to make informed choices. Overview of electric forklifts and diesel forklifts Electric forklifts use energy from batteries to operate, while diesel forklifts run on internal combustion engines using diesel fuel. Electric forklifts are often preferred in indoor working environments due to their lack of harmful emissions. On the other hand, diesel forklifts are suitable for outdoor tasks, especially in challenging terrain conditions. Key strengths of electric forklifts include: – Smooth operation, low noise levels – No direct emissions, environmentally friendly – Lower operating costs in the long run – Simpler maintenance Key weaknesses of electric forklifts include: – Higher initial investment costs – Long battery charging times – Limited continuous operation due to battery capacity Key advantages of diesel-powered forklifts include: – High power output, suitable for heavy loads – Diesel forklifts can work continuously over long periods – Good adaptation to outdoor conditions and challenging terrains Disadvantages of diesel-powered forklifts include: – Emission of harmful gases – High noise levels – Higher fuel consumption and maintenance costs – Initial investment costs When comparing initial investment costs, diesel-powered forklifts usually have lower prices than electric ones with the same capacity. However, this price difference is gradually narrowing as battery technology and electric motors are being improved. Factors affecting the price of a forklift: – Lifting capacity and load weight – Brand and origin – Features and accompanying technologies For example, a 3-ton diesel-powered forklift may cost between 300-400 million VND, while an electric one with the same load capacity may range from 400-550 million VND. However, it is important to note that the initial price is only part of the total ownership and operating costs of a forklift. Operating costs Operating costs are an important factor in determining long-term investment efficiency. This is an area where electric forklifts often have an advantage. Fuel consumption costs: Electric forklifts have significantly lower energy costs. With an average electricity price of around 2,000 VND/kWh, energy costs can be only 1/3 to 1/4 compared to diesel-powered ones using fuel priced at around 20,000 VND/liter. Maintenance and repair costs: Electric forklifts have simpler construction with fewer moving parts, so maintenance costs are usually lower. However, when replacing batteries (usually after 5-7 years), the cost can be quite high, accounting for about 30-40% of the vehicle’s value. Diesel-powered forklif…

  • kho-xe-nang-cu Advice on Choosing Used Container Forklifts

Definition of Used Container Forklifts Used container forklifts are specialized vehicles used for transporting and stacking containers. These forklifts have been previously used for a certain period of time before being resold on the market. Used container forklifts are typically 2-10 years old, have been operating reliably, and can continue to be effectively used for many more years. The Importance of Choosing the Right Type of Used Container Forklift Choosing the right type of used container forklift is crucial as it determines work efficiency, operating costs, and even safety for both the operator and the cargo and surrounding equipment. Key factors to consider include load capacity, size, container lifting speed, durability, reliability, maintenance costs, and availability of spare parts. Each type of forklift is suitable for specific tasks and operating environments. Therefore, businesses need careful guidance and selection when purchasing and using used container forklifts. I. Benefits of Choosing Used Container Forklifts 1. Cost savings compared to new vehicles The biggest advantage of used container forklifts is their significantly lower price compared to new vehicles, usually only 30-60% of the original value. This affordable price range is suitable for many small and medium-sized businesses. Purchasing used container forklifts helps businesses save considerable initial investment costs as well as operating expenses while still achieving profitability. 2. Environmental protection and recycling Using used container forklifts helps extend the lifespan of equipment, reduce industrial waste, and save resources and energy consumed in producing new vehicles. This approach promotes circular economy practices and environmental protection that many countries are adopting. 3. Work efficiency and stability of used forklifts After a period of use, container forklifts often reach a stable operational state with main components having passed their “childhood” stage, resulting in fewer breakdowns. Many models, when properly and regularly maintained, can be used continuously for 20 years or more without a decrease in performance. Furthermore, experience in operating and repairing familiar models is often higher compared to newly introduced forklifts. II. Important Factors to Consider When Choosing Used Container Forklifts When selecting used container forklifts, buyers need to carefully evaluate technical condition, structure, and operational history to ensure quality and reliability during use. 1. Check technical condition and maintenance – Engine and transmission system – Check cylinder compression pressure, oil/grease leaks – Starting capability, abnormal engine noise – Smoothness of power transmission system – Steering and braking system – Smooth steering, effective braking – No brake fluid leaks – Check tire condition and suspension system – Tires meet wear standards – Check shock absorber condition, lifting cylinder 2. Inspect structure and frame of the forklift – Check welding and frame durability: no deformation or cracks – Condition of other important components: gearbox, driver’s cabin… 3. Examine the usage history and maintenance records of the forklift – Operating hours – the lower the better – Complete maintenance records according to manufacturer’s requirements – Proper storage and operation conditions (non-harsh environments) III. Well-known and Reliable Brands Some reliable and well-known used container forklift brands on the market include: 1. Famous manufacturers: – Kalmar – Konecranes – Hyster – Linde – Toyota -Crown These are leading global brands in container forklifts with proven reliability and quality over time. 2. Highly rated used container forklift models: -Kalmar DRF 400-450: efficient electric plug-in empty container handler -Hyster H22XM: smooth-operating diesel container loader/unloader -Toyota 02-8FD: durable diesel forklift with stable power […]
